AWARDS: Outstanding Contribution Awards
Past Award Recipients

Rules:

1. Any person or group is eligible for an award, but nominators must be members of the organization.
2. Members may nominate their own projects or publications.
3. Award Committee members are not eligible.
4. Projects and publications must have been completed within the previous two calendar years prior to the award year.  In addition, projects and publications completed by the nomination deadline (May 1) for the current award year are also eligible.  Thus, for the 2007 awards, projects and publications completed in 2006, 2007, and early 2008 eligible
5. Submitted materials become the property of the CSA unless return is requested and an envelope with return postage is provided.
6. Nominations may be described or reviewed in any CSA publication without specific permission.
7. Nomination forms should be submitted to the Awards Committee Chair by the deadline indicated below.

Gina Walker Outstanding Project Award:

This award is named in honor of Gina Walker (Rice Library, University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, Indiana), who has served the CSA over the years as treasurer, board member, and webmaster, in addition to assuming association responsibilities too numerous to list. She received the Donald E. Pitzer Outstanding Service Award for her invaluable contributions to the association over the years. The award is for non-print projects: including but not limited to videos, websites, news broadcasts, archaeological excavations, museum exhibits or other contributions generally attributed to multiple participants, completed within the previous two years.

Nominations should include a nomination form describing the project and how it promotes the study of communal societies.   Additional material, such as press releases, newspaper articles, photographs or other supporting documentation may also be a part of the nomination and is encouraged.

An award for a single published work; an article or a book, popular or scholarly, that is an outstanding contribution to the understanding of communal societies, published within the previous two years.

Nominations for the Publication Award should include a statement of support indicating how the publication represents an outstanding contribution to the understanding of communal societies.


Deadline: May 1.  Recipients will be announced at the annual fall conference and will receive a plaque honoring their accomplishments.
